OUGD402 - Studio Brief 02 - Final Concept as Elevator Pitch

MEGAN KEIGHLEY

Cut | Draw | Design

Designer, illustrator, collage-maker. With a keen interest in analog techniques, I combine the handmade with the digital, whilst continuing to question the notion of Graphic Design.

a) Title
The decision to keep my given name was because I wanted my self-branding project to be as true to me as possible.

b) Pay-off
Cut, draw, design was based on the three main areas I am interested in within graphic design - design, illustration and collage. I used these words to create a punchy tag-line which also conveys a multi-disciplinary approach that potential clients and studios would value in a designer.

c) Brief description
The first part of the description makes reference to the pay-off in describing the three areas of interest. "Continuing to question the notion of Graphic Design" was based on the idea that, although I enjoy more handmade techniques, I am still open to experimentation with both analog and digital processes. Combining both within my work allows me to potentially create stronger concepts and design developments. Before starting the course, I felt like I still had quite a narrow view of what Graphic Design is and can be and so this part also references the continuation of my learning and my now broadened view of the discipline, which I will continue to explore further throughout the next two years of the course.
