OUGD602 - Design Your Own Job

6A2 / 6B2 / 6C2 / 6D2.

Design Your Own Job:

- Nelly Ben Hayoun, "Designer of Experiences".
- Don't describe yourself as a student or graduate, you have the power to define your own careers and design your own job title/who you want to be. As a result, this can give rise to a philosophy, ethos or mission to shape the work that you do.

Task one: Brainstorm what you would want from your ideal job role.

Task two: Create a job title for your future aspirations.
https://designtitles.com/ generates random fake job titles, some of these sound like real professional jobs, however some are on the more comedic side. This site was used as inspiration for creating my own job title based on ideas taken from what my ideal job role would be.

Job title: "Creative Opportunist".

Originally my job title was "Interdisciplinary Designer of Research and Creative Opportunist" based on the ideas that I would consider my practice as multidisciplinary, I enjoy working on research-based projects and that I am open to various creative opportunities which may arise, such as the opportunity to travel for work and the opportunity to broaden my creative practice into other areas of fine art which may not directly concern graphic design.

However, it was thought that "Creative Opportunist" on its own worked more effectively in creating a more punchy job title that gets people wondering, with the potential for them to find out more, its more authoritative, but still communicates a multidisciplinary approach and an openness to various creative opportunities.

Utilising this new job title:

Based on this task, it was decided to utilise this new job title across social media in order to see what sort of reaction this gains. It was thought that generally people probably won't question it, but it may make them interested to find out more about my creative practice.
