OUGD602 - Personal Branding Rationale

RATIONALE:

For my personal branding, it was decided to play on my creative practice as being inter-disciplinary, since I do not have any specific set style that I work towards, enjoying both hands-on approaches to design production, as well as digital which allows me to appropriately select the best solution to the task at hand. The branding therefore plays on this through the tagline 'design, illustrate, create', in bold colours and type choice so that this instantly creates an impact to someone who sees it, as well as this tagline being something which people can catch on to so that each time they see it they can instantly recognise it as coming from myself.

The logotype created in addition to this tagline has been produced utilising my initials as a clear link to me as a designer, merging these together to create one cohesive whole in which dependent on how you view it both letters still stand out individually even though they are conjoined. This has been designed to show the two different sides to my creative practice, being both traditional and more contemporary, therefore the logo combines the use of a traditional serif typeface which a modern twist in its style, using this in contrast to a playful san-serif typeface for the tagline and any other information on other branding material.

The colour scheme was chosen in order to communicate myself as friendly and approachable, not being too serious in its design and choosing to be more playful so that potential clients do not feel intimidated to contact me. This has also been used to convey my experimental, playful approach to design work.
